SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Ula "Bonnie" Lakey, 86 of South Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead, Iowa, with Neva Perdue, chaplain with Hospice officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Bonnie was born on Saturday, Sept. 4, 1920, in Glenrock, Wyo., the daughter of Orville and Margaret (Keller) Harlow. After moving to Sioux City, she attended Woodrow Wilson and Central High School.

In 1941, she was united in marriage to Tom Lakey in Chicago, Ill., and remained married to him until his passing on Dec. 29, 1980. Bonnie spent over 30 years working for Armour and Company and later with Sioux City Dressed Pork. She also worked at Joe Gantz Steak House in Sioux City, the Crystal Cafe and the Diamond Horseshoe in South Sioux City for many years before her retirement.

Bonnie loved making cakes and candies for special occasions and was very skilled at knitting and crocheting. She was a former officer/member of the Eastern Star and was an award-winning volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years. She loved dancing and "good" music, and she always talked about her many years as a member of "The Mob," the girls' bowling team for Sioux City Dressed Pork. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and making toy animals.

She is survived by her children, Tom Lakey III and Judy Lockwood, both of South Sioux City; two granddaughters, Stacey and Doug Baker and Shauna and Brian Wilde, all of Sioux City; five great-grandchildren, Renee, Ariel, Ryan Baker, Amanda Lockwood-Lenig and Brian Wilde, Jr.; two great-great-grandchildren, Haylee and Jersee Baker; a sister, Leone Massey of Correctionville, Iowa; and a brother, Ivan Harlow of Worthington, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; and her two youngest children, Dale and Kenneth.
