Zella (Craig) Thomas, 65, of Rodney, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at The Site (Community Center), Rodney, Iowa with Lay Servant Anthony Bainbridge, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Zella’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at The Site, Rodney, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Zella Leora Craig was born May 11, 1959 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Margie (Werling) Craig. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley with the class of 1977. She continued her education at Western Iowa Tech Community College and graduated with an associate degree in Coding.

Zella Craig and Ray Thomas were united in marriage March 11, 2009 in Vermillion, South Dakota. Zella worked as an accounting clerk for WinnaVegas Casino Resort, in Sloan, Iowa for many years. She enjoyed crafting, reading, and riding motorcycles. Zella found great joy in decorating and rearranging her home. Zella loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Thomas of Rodney, Iowa; son, Jesse (Alissa) Hansen of Bronson, Iowa; stepson, Bryce (Ashley Bretz) Thomas of Sioux City, Iowa; stepdaughter, Lynde Thomas of Vermillion, South Dakota; grandchildren, Aspen Hansen, Craig Hansen, River Lynne Bretz, and Kaeli Thomas; sister, Beth Ryan of Rodney, Iowa; brother, Doug (Marsha) Craig of Mapleton, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Margie (Werling) Craig; sister, Carmen (Frank) Carda; brother, Jim Craig; and nephew, Michael Ryan.
