30 October 2024Shirley Kay Davis, 84, of Hornick, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A visitation will be 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Saturday, November 2, 2024, with a celebration of life service at 5:30 P.M., at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Ryan Austin, officiating. Family requests those in attendance to wear casual attire. A live stream of the service will be posted online with Shirley’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at the Onawa Community Center, 320 10th Street, Onawa, Iowa. A memorial graveside service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Pleasantville Cemetery, Pleasantville, Iowa. Following the memorial graveside service there will be a gathering at the Checkerboard Restaurant, 108 E Monroe Street, Pleasantville, Iowa, 50225. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Shirley Kay Davis was born on May 29,1940 in Washington, Iowa. She was the daughter of Glenn and LaVerl (Davidson) Wilson.
She was raised in rural Marion County, Iowa and graduated from Pleasantville High School with the class of 1957. She lived in and around the Pleasantville area for many years. On November 1, 1974 she married Orvil Dean Davis. In July of 2000 they moved to Hornick, Iowa.
Family was the most important part of her life and she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her horses, dogs, and spending time tending to her flowers.
She was a member of the Hornick Library Club and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Pleasantville, Iowa.
Those left to honor her memory includes her husband, Orvil Dean Davis of Hornick, Iowa; sons, Randy (Beck) Hunt of Hornick, Iowa, and Ronnie (Barb) Hunt of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; daughter, Michelle (Chris) Hart of Danbury, Iowa; brother-in-law, Jerry Horstmann of Pleasantville, Iowa; 10 grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and LaVerl (Davidson) Wilson; infant brother, Ronnie Wilson; sister, Lorna Horstmann; daughter, Bobbi Wright; and grandson, Ryan Calhoun.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Shirley’s memory may be directed to the family for future designation.
