24 August 2023Nelda D. Weber, age 92, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Father William A. McCarthy will officiate. Committal services will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Nelda Delores Weber the daughter of Hans and Clara (Wellner) Miller, was born on July 1, 1931, in Danbury, Iowa. She grew up outside of Danbury and received her education at Danbury Public School.
In her youth, Nelda worked as a waitress at a local restaurant until she fell in love with the love of her life Robert Weber. The couple later were united in marriage on June 12, 1950, in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple settled down on a farm south of Mapleton and welcomed their four daughters together: Marla, Janet, Lana, and Nancy.
A farm girl through and through, Nelda was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she could. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and treasured her time with her family especially her grandchildren. Nelda also was an excellent cook. Her scrumptious fried chicken and delectable homemade chocolate cake were some of her family’s favorites.
Nelda had an unwavering faith and was a devoted member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton, Iowa.
Left to carry on her memory are her daughters: Marla (Rob) Gorshe of Boone, IA, Janet (Robert) Crum of Mapleton, IA, Lana (John) Stoll of Mapleton, IA, and Nancy (Mark) Hahn of Mapleton, IA; grandchildren Jill, Derrick (Jen), Sara (Cory), Luke (Jen), Adam (Sara), Ryan (Katie), and Courtney; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother-in-law Jerry (Willie) Weber of Oto, IA; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Miller of Moville, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents Hans and Clara Miller; beloved husband Robert Weber; siblings: Lillian, Raymond, Shorty, Violet, Fern, and infant brother George.
