Sharon Kay Johnson, 81, of Sloan, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 (Noon), Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa, with Pastor Kody Killian, officiating. A short service will start at 10:00 A.M. followed by lunch and fellowship. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Sharon’s obituary. Burial will take place at 12:30 P.M. at the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Sharon Kay was born November 22, 1941, in Sloan, Iowa, the daughter of Ira Clarence and Leta “Tootsie” Eva (Gulick) Copple. She attended public school at Salix, later she went and obtained her GED.

Sharon Kay and William “Bill” Charles Johnson were united into marriage on October 11, 1963, in Sloan, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Betsy and Marty.

She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She was well known for making caramels for the Pleasant View Pie Auctions. Sharon enjoyed volunteering for the nursing home, where she would make them cookies for Bingo.

Sharon was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Sloan.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Johnson of Sloan, Iowa; children, Betsy Johnson of Sloan, Iowa, and Marty Johnson of Sloan, Iowa; brothers, Ronnie (Bev) Copple of Sloan, Iowa, and Gil (Vicky) Copple of Sioux City, Iowa; sister, Twila Copple of Sloan, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Roberta Kelley, Carol Johnson, Renee Johnson, Marilyn Lewis, and Kathy Gay; brother-in-law, James “Rusty” Johnson and Lynne; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Leta “Tootsie” (Gulick) Copple; brothers, Jack Copple and Benny Copple; sisters and spouses, Sally (Don) Maddox, and Janet (Larry) VanAuken; brothers- in-law, David Johnson, and Harold “LeRoy” Johnson; and parents-in-law, Charles “Chuck” and Catherine “Katie” (Jensen) Johnson.
