MAPLETON, Iowa-- Earl A. Otto, 74, of Mapleton, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Danbury, with the Rev. Morris Hurd officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 prayer service at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Otto was born April 17, 1916, on his family's farm near Mapleton, son of Walter and Katherine (Treiber) Otto. He lived and farmed the the Century farm all his life. He married Ruby May Pry on May 26, 1937, at Moville. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception and dance in 1987.

He was a member of Danbury's United Methodist Church. He was a past director of the Mapleton Co-op, Farm Mutual Insurance in Danbury, and a past ASCS Township Committeeman. He sealed C.C.C. grain. At the time of his death, he was director of the Monona County R.E.C. and a Cooper Township trustee. He was a seed dealer for Golden Harvest for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Joseph Tarchie of Manassas, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Otto of Danbury; and three granddaughters, Diane Marie Tarchie of Manassas and Melissa and Rebecca Otto of Danbury.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence, and a sister, Minnie Uhl.
