Mary Esther Collins

DANBURY, Iowa -- Mary Esther Collins, 85, of Danbury died Saturday in a nursing home in Mapleton after a long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. today by the Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. by parish in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Miss Collins was born Dec. 23, 1898, in Danbury and lived her entire life in the Danbury community. She operated the Collins Hotel for many years, retiring in 1952. She worked for the Danbury Review for about 15 years. Since 1978 she had lived at Maple Heights Nursing Home.

Miss Collins was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
