Elizabeth G. Collins

DANBURY, Iowa -- Elizabeth G. Collins, 91, of Danbury, died Friday at an Onawa hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with the Rev. Robert Thiele officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton where the rosary will be recited by the Rosary Society at 3:30 p.m. and by the parish at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Collins, the former Elizabeth Riemer was born May 11, 1894, in Charter Oak. The parental family moved to Danbury, and later to Kimball, S.D. She returned to Danbury and worked at Collins Hotel. She married Leo A. Collins on Feb. 17, 1920, in Danbury, and the couple farmed northwest of Danbury. Mr. Collins died Feb. 17, 1948.

She had been a 4-H leader in Liston Township for a number of years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and National Catholic Society of Foresters.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Carlson of Omaha, two sons, James of Danbury and Wayne J. of Sioux City; four brothers, Edward of White Bear Lake, Minn., Robert of Franklin, N.J., Norbert of Kimball, S.D., and Donald of Clifton, N.J.; six sisters, Mrs. Margaret Hall of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Marie Reagels of Yuba City, Calif., Adeline Madison of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Leona Blackburn of Sioux City; Mrs. Marcella Schaber of Omaha, and Mrs. Helen Meisner in California; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
