SOLDIER, Iowa -- Elmer Harold Savery, 86, of Soldier died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ute Christian Armstrong Church in Ute, Iowa, with the Rev. James Mcintosh officiating.

Burial will be in Jordon Cemetery in rural Soldier. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Funeral Home in Ute, Mr. Savery was born Sept. 2, 1910, near Woodbine, Iowa, the son of James Edward and Anna (Bolte) Savery.

He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1930. On April 29, 1933, he married Leona Barbara McCall in Elk Point, S.D. The couple farmed in the Moorhead, Soldier and Ute areas, later retiring and moving into Soldier. Mr. Savery was a member of the Ute Chirstian Church.

He also served on the A.S.C. committee in Monona County and was a Monona County supervisor, serving from January 1973 to December 1980. He was a member of the Sioux City Scottish Rite Bodies, a past member of the Ute Masonic Lodge, and a present member of the Quarry Lodge A.F. A. M. 404 in Mapleton.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shurrell and his wife Maxine of Denison, Iowa and Norman of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Edward and Leona of Marshalltown, Iowa; a sister, Gladys Blumenstein of Logan, Iowa; three grandchildren, Steven, Shelly and Stacey; and five greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Lowell Eugene; four sisters, Louise Schmidt, infant sister Etta, Edna Morris, and Emma Dunlop; and three brothers, LeRoy, Floyd, and Lyle.
