WHITING MAN DIES IN AFRICA

Samuel A. Babb Killed in Action, Parents Are Informed

Whiting, la. Special: Mr. and Mrs. George Babb have been informed by the war department that their son, Corporal Samuel A. Babb, 23, was killed in action in north Africa on April 8.

He had been in the army two years, going first to Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, then to Texas and then to Camp Dix, New Jersey, before being sent to Ireland a year ago. He was with American troops landing in Africa last November. He was wounded in action and was presented the purple heart award.

While in Ireland he became engaged to Miss Mary Ann Green.

Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, George at home and Private Robert Babb of Camp Haan, California, and four sisters, Anna at home, Mrs. Jessie Ray of Kansas City, and Miss Laura Babb and Mrs. Lillian Christy of Sioux City.
