4 November 1980Mapleton, Iowa-- Mrs. John (May J) Duschl, 85, Signal Mountain, Tenn., formerly of Mapleton died Sunday at Signal Mountain.
Graveside services will be at 9:45 a. m. Wednesday in Mount Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. The Rev. Louis Aitken will officiate. The body will arrive at the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton Monday evening.
Mrs. Duschl. the former May Friedman, was born May 1, 1895, at Princeville, Ill.
She was married in 1918, at Rosewell, N. M. They came to Mapleton shortly after marriage. Mr. Duschl died in 1955. She taught school before her marriage and was librarian at Maple Valley School from 1942 until 1957. In 1960 she moved to New Jersey to live with her children and later moved to Floria. For the last three years, she had lived with a daughter at Signal Mountain.
She was a longtime member of St. John Methodist Church at Mapleton and Methodist Ladies Society. She was a member of PEO and the Women's Civic Club.
Survivors include one son, John of Succasunna N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Joyce) Bowman of Signal Mountain and Mrs. Sara Ann Curry of Rosselle, N.J.; two brothers, William of Peoria, Ill. and Lawrence of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
