Leo Devine, 80, of Mapleton, died Monday, April 13 in a nursing home in Mapleton.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Walter Bruch officiated. Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery at Charter Oak. Military graveside rites were conducted by Loren Hollister Post #496. The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.
Mr. Devine was born February 28, 1901 to Thomas Devine and Sarah McGinnis Devine near Vail. In 1909, after the death of his father, the family moved to a farm near Hornick. He farmed with his brother until 1971 when he retired.
Mr. Devine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He had been a resident of the nursing home the last nine months.
Leo served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, and two brothers.
Pallbearers were Robert Devine, Leonard Sanford, Joe Maher, Bud Parsley, Wilfred Sanford and Lawrence Devine.
