Loyde A. Uhl, 71, lifetime Mapleton resident, died Sunday, April 5, in a Sioux City hospital after an illness of several months.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Mapleton. The Rev. Walter Bruch officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's
Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Walter Funeral Home at Mapleton.

Mr. Uhl was born January 28, 1910, to Isadore and Angie (Musser) Uhl near Mapleton. He was a lifelong Mapleton area farmer.

He married Hildegard Kleine on February 21, 1938 at Danbury. They retired from farming in 1975.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a past member of the Mapleton Skyhawks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Joyce and one sister.

Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Jeanne) Gray of Storm Lake; two sons, Dean of Mapleton and Dale of Hornick; eight grandchildren: one brother, Curt of Apache Junction, Arizona: and one sister, Mrs. Richard (Olive) Shattuck of Smithland.

Pallbearers were Vernal Weber, Raymond Weber, Wayne Ortner, Leon Ortner, Loren Brenner and Gilbert Uhl.
