Andrew J. Schleis, 87, of LeMar's, Iowa, died Sunday, November 6, 1983, at the Floyd Valley Hospital, after a brief illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, in St Joseph's Catholic Church. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Frauds Staber officiated. A prayer service was held with a rosary at 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.

Mr. Schleis was born July 7, 1896, to John and Elizabeth (Gross) Schleis at Arion, Iowa. He moved to Mapleton as a young man and farmed. They retired and moved to LeMar's in 1952. He married Kathering K. Anthony on August 24, 1920, at New Uhm, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and William: three brothers, Joseph, John and George, and two and two sisters, Margaret Koenig and Anna Gotto.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Louise) Horn of Paynesville, Minnesota, Mrs. Leon (Virginia) Hansel of Sioux City, Mrs.
Leonard (Ardis) Langel of LeMar's, and Mrs. James (Maxine) Newman of Salix; one sister, Mrs. Mary Anthony of LeMar's; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were six grandsons.
