Cornelius Jessen, 92, of Ute, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 1, 1983, at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Walter Funeral Home, Ute, Iowa. The Rev. Robert Leege officiated. Burial was in the St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa.

Mr. Jessen was born August 5, 1891, in Hamburg, Germany. He came to the United States and to the Ute Community as a child with his parents. He was a lifelong Ute area farmer and had lived the last several years in a nursing home in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mr. Jessen was a veteran of World War I and was a 60-year member of Aaby Post 442 of the American Legion. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran
Church of Ute, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Minnie Thompson of Yucaipa, California.

Pallbearers were members of the American Legion Aaby Post No. 442, Ute.
