Maurice C. Kueny, 66, of Mapleton, died Thursday, October 13, 1983, in a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Monsignor A.W. Behrens officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday by the pariah, there was a Bible vigil at 8 p.m. and the rosary was recited by the Knights of Columbus at 8:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Kueny was born March 12, 1917, to Charles and Violet (Schrunk) Kueny at Rockwell City. He went to Danbury from Rockwell as a child, to Mapleton in 1924, and then to California from 1942-1944 working in a shipyard. He worked at Haubrich Construction in Mapleton. He married Ferne Hansen August 29, 1940, at South Sioux City. In 1958 he started Kueny Electric Company and operated it until 1979, when he retired.

Mr. Kueny was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus, Willow Vale Golf Club, Old Timers Golf Club and the Camping Club and was a
past member of the Mapleton Community Club, and the Mapleton Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife; one son, James of Mapleton; three daughters. Mrs. Clifford (Bonnie) Flynn of Norfolk, Nebraska, Mrs. Robert (Faye) Hoskins of Wakiawa, Hawaii and Mrs. Douglas (Mary) Huseman of Edwardsville, Kansas; his mother, Violet Kueny of Mapleton; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Donna Mae) Petersen of Westfield and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearer were Henry Bush, Martin Thies, Gilbert Rauterkus, Clifton Clark, Leo Streak and Joe Koenigs.
