Evelvn K. Morgan, 66, of Mapleton, died Monday, October 10, 1983, in a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. Rev. Robert Thiele officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Morgan, the former Evelyn Hamman, was born February 28, 1917, to Henry and Ida (Uhl) Hamman rural Mapleton and was a lifelong area resident. She married Leonard Morgan September 27, 1943, at Mapleton. Except for a short period of time in California, during World War II, they farmed in the Mapleton community. Mr. Morgan died August 18, 1972. She moved into Mapleton at that time and was employed at Maple Heights Nursing Home as a cook.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Survivors include four sons, Steven of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Jerry of Sioux City, Thomas of Schoolcraft, Michigan and Larry of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three daughters, Jeanne Woodward of Sioux City, Cathy Morgan Oregon of Storm Lake and Mary Morgan of Fremont, Nebraska; three brothers, John and Henry both of Mapleton and Uhl of Sioux City; four sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Leona) Kraft and Donald (Helen) Daly both at Mapleton, Mrs. Wayne (Laura) Ortner and Mrs. Arnold (Mary Ann) Ortner both of Danbury. And seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Teny Kraft, James Ortner, Allen Clark, Rick Hammen, Dennis Ortner and Lloyd Hamman.
