Wanda Marie Armstrong 1890 - 1983

Wanda Marie Armstrong, daughter of William and Mary Anne Hall was born on a farm near Smithland on July 10, 1890, and died at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on June 18, 1983, at 92 years of age.

Wanda attended country school, then graduated from Smithland High School in 1907. She taught school for two years.

She married Fay Armstrong of Oto, Iowa, on October 1, 1910, at Onawa, Iowa. They made their home in Denver, Colorado, after living in Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. They moved to New Mexico in 1929 where Mr. Armstrong died in 1961. Wanda moved to Mapleton in 1972, where she made her home until her death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Eastern Star of Hatch, New Mexico, and the D.A.R. of Los Cruses, New Mexico.

She received her degree from the State Teachers College at Silver City, New Mexico, in 1964 and taught school at Garfield, New Mexico, for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, two sisters, two nephews and one niece.

Survivors are one brother, Kendal Hall of Refugia, Texas; one sister, Evelyn Nagel of Mapleton; two nephews and three nieces and other relatives and
friends.

Services were held June 21 at the Methodist Church in Mapleton with Rev. Gary Armstrong of Slater, Iowa officiating. Burial was in the Little Sioux
Cemetery at Smithland, under the direction of the Willman Funeral Home of Rodney, Iowa.

Organ musk was by Mrs. Whiteing.

Pallbearers were nephews, Elwood Nagel, Brice Bollin, Albert Hall, Michael Clayton, Norman Stickney and Gary Armstrong.
