Jimmie Dale Adams (Jim), 86, of LaVista, Nebraska passed away Saturday August 6, 2022, in Omaha.

Jim was born in Onawa, Iowa to Estella M. Wyland and Orus O. Adams August 28, 1935. Jim was the 10th sibling of this union. He grew up in the Onawa and Blencoe area and married Lois Louise Steward from Onawa on July 4th, 1954. Jim worked at the Omaha Country Club Golf Course a few years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps where he graduated at the top of his class in basic training. He later received a congratulatory letter from the commanding General for being “Marine of the Month” for his squadron and also received a “Letter of Commendation” for achieving the highest, scholastic average of his class in the Aviation Machinists’s Mate Helicoptor course. He spent the rest of his military career as a helicopter mechanic, later in life, telling stories of how they used to push helicoptors overboard due to the corrosive nature of the ocean. Jimmie was given an honorable discharge from the USMC with the rank of Corporal in November of 1958.

Jim and Lois then resided in Onawa and Omaha raising their four boys: Jimmie Dale Adams Jr. 1958, Rickie Lee Adams 1960, David Duane Adams 1962, and Dennis Ray Adams 1964. They grew up In LaVista and are still living in the area with their families.

Upon ending his service, Jim went into construction with his brothers for a while. Eventually, Jim would have his own construction business, speciaizing in acoustial ceilings and floating computer floors, which he would do until retirement. Despite working hard all day, Jim always found time for family, watching and sometimes coaching his children in various sports as they grew up.

Jim enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren in his later years. Jim was an adamant golf fan and thoroughly enjoyed Nebraska Cornhusker football with many of the family members regularly joining him at home on football Saturdays.

Jim is survived by his wife Lois and his four boys - Jimmie (Debra) with children James Zachariah (with children Chloe, Jaxon, Lily and step-children Hayes Hess, and Scarlet) & Seth Lewis, Rickie, David (Eileen) with children Mia and Anna, and Dennis (Paula) with step-children Chuck (Cassi) Shanahan (with children Brayden, Lucy, and Laney) and Corey (Lacey) Shanahan (with Copper), 2 sisters - Jean Conyers in Papillion and Gloria (Dee) Isakson in Escondido, California, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceeded in death by his Mother and Father; five brothers - Orus Orson Jr.(Jupe, Big Jack), William,(Billy), LeRoy (Red), Jack, and Earl; and four sisters - Dorothy (Dottie), Jessee, Arvilla (Rusty), and Rose Mary (Bobbie).

Private Family burial to take place at the Omaha National Cemetery for veterans in Omaha, Nebraska at a later date.
