Wreath E. Peterson, 99, of Keizer, Oregon, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 20, 1999, in Oregon.

Wreath was born September 22,1899, near Castana, Iowa, the daughter of George Franklin and Lorinda (Morton) Struble. On March 15, 1922, she married Lloyd Holverson. He died December 1, 1937. She married William Peterson on February 18, 1939. The couple farmed in Harrison County. After retiring, they traveled all over the United States and spent 19 winters at the same place in Texas. When William's health failed, they went to Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa. He died January 19, 1972.

In 1989, due to her failing health, she moved to Oregon with her daughter Lucile. After one year, she returned to Onawa to visit and was hospitalized. Then moved to Elmwood Care Centre until 1995 when she moved to Oregon to live. She was in a foster home for one year and then a care home. She snapped back after each illness and was admired by all. She was able to get in and out of her wheelchair by herself until one week before her death. She was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa; the General Council and Circle of the Church; a member of G.A.R. for 26 years; and a volunteer at Elmwood Care Centre for 17 years.

Survivors include her daughter and husband, Lucille and Philip Yoder of Keizer, OR; one brother, Everett Struble of Castana, Iowa; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren, and five great – great -grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Esther Sabatka and Louise McKean; one son-in-law, Robert McKean; one granddaughter, Linda Marie Olson Smith; two grandsons, Larry Olson and Thomas Michael McKean; and four brothers, Charles, Merrill, Joe and Park. Memorial Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 1999, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick, officiating.

The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand".

Interment was in the Jordan Township Cemetery, Soldier, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Onawa.
