Alroy W. “Bub” Towne, 84, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 P.M Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the shelter house in the park at Danbury, Iowa with Hospice Chaplain Dale Wolf, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Alroy Walter Towne was born on October 14, 1935, in Rural Danbury, Iowa, to Walter Leroy “Roy” and Maurine Emma (Johnson) Towne. He grew up on a farm near Danbury, Iowa where he attended school.

He served in the Army National Guard from April 5, 1957 – April 4, 1960. He was a Heavy Weapons Infantryman for 3 years.

Alroy and Betty (Thompson) Towne were united into marriage on January 28, 1961at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa. To this union five children were born; Carey, Allan, Tina, John, and Jason.

Alroy was the jack of all trades. He loved spending his free time going to auctions. Alroy loved all his family especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going to all the kid’s events and was a very giving person. He loved his dog companions, especially his Chihuahua’s and watching Westerns.

Alroy is survived by his wife, Betty (Thompson) Towne of Mapleton, Iowa; his children, Carey and spouse John Swift of Whiting, Iowa, Allan (Becky) Towne of Mapleton, Iowa, Tina (David) Allen of Danbury, Iowa, John Towne of Mapleton, Iowa, and Jason (Julie) Towne of Conrad, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leroy “Roy” and Maurine Emma (Johnson) Towne; his parents-in law, Orville and Helen (Luscombe) Thompson; his brothers Ronald and Gaylen Towne; and his granddaughter, Heather Allen.

Thank you to Maple Heights staff, extended family, and Burgess Hospice for all the care Alroy received.
