Sharon Kay Thompson, 81, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society, Le Mars, Iowa, surrounded by her family to meet her Lord and Savior.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 15, 2021 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Mark McGlohon officiating. Lunch and fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church. Burial will follow at the St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 14, 2021 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Sharon Kay was born on a farm in Monona County, on August 10, 1940, the daughter of Leslie Murl and Violet Elizabeth (Steward) Archer. She attended country school until starting in Castana in the 2nd grade. Sharon graduated from Soldier High School in 1959.

Sharon married Earl Lyle Thompson July 8, 1962 in Onawa, Iowa. Sharon enjoyed babysitting in her home. She worked at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa as a CNA for several years. In 1991 she started at Dial America in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and it later changed names to Telequist until it closed. Earl passed away November 17, 1996.

Sharon worked at Winna Vegas in Sloan, Iowa as a hostess at the buffet until December 2001. She started at Stangel Pharmacy as a tech until her retirement in August of 2010.

She enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards, working in the yard, and going to garage sales. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially attending Logan’s sporting events. She treated everyone like family and made everyone feel so special. She loved to watch WWE and listening to George Strait.

Sharon was a member of the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa. She was also a member of the Queen Esther Chapter #222, order of the Eastern Star, a Rainbow Leader, and Campfire Leader.

Survivors include her children, Robin (Dan) Riggs of Le Mars, Iowa, and Julie Feige of Onawa, Iowa; two special daughters, Tracy Erlandson, and Sarah Haptonstall, both of Onawa, Iowa; grandchild, Logan Feige of Onawa, Iowa; two special grandsons, Brady Poulson and Lane Poulson, both of Le Mars, Iowa; sister, Phyllis (Jim) Towne of Onawa, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Thompson Sikes of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Darlene Butcher of Onawa, Iowa; aunt, Lavonne Edmonds of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thompson; her parents, Murl and Violet (Steward) Archer; parents-in-law, Clarence (Lizzy) Thompson; sister, Joyce (Earl) Shearer; and two brothers, Franklin (Cynthia) Archer, and David Archer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edwin (Brownie) Brown, Lyle (Jo) Thompson, Harmon Thompson, Shirley Newman, Ruth (Elmer) Webster, and Wayne Thompson; and two nephews, Terry Shearer and Ronnie Archer.
