Obituary

Suzette “Suzy” F. Hoevet, 71, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Josie Harper Hospice House, Omaha, Nebraska.

Suzette Faye was born August 9, 1949 the daughter of Milbert and Norma (Mehlhoff) Fauth. She grew up on a small farm/ranch located southeast of Eureka, South Dakota and graduated from Eureka High School in 1967. She was involved in the thriving music program and band ensembles of EHS, playing clarinet and piano.  She loved everything about music. Suzette attended South Dakota State University, Brookings, South Dakota where she obtained her secretarial degree and met the love of her life, Robert. She then moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she worked several jobs.

Suzette and Robert were married June 9, 1973 in Eureka, South Dakota. To this union one child was born, her pride and joy, Brad.

Over her lifetime she performed secretarial work for IBP, Central United Life insurance, First Federal Savings, Vantus Bank, and Briar Cliff College until retirement in 2015.

Suzette was a farm girl at heart. She took pride in creating a warm, inviting and eye-appealing home inside and out. She loved working in her yard, planting flowers and bird watching. Suzette was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Onawa, Iowa and active with the Onawa Garden Club. She was a supporter and donator to the Siouxland Humane Society in Sioux City, Iowa.

Survivors include her loving husband of forty-seven years, Robert Hoevet of Onawa, Iowa; her son, Brad (Megan Garrett) of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister, Hazel Thompson of Lake Albert, South Dakota; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Milbert and Norma (Mehlhoff) Fauth; brother-in-law, Ron Thompson; and an infant nephew.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa.  A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Chip Borgstadt officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed, Due to Covid-19 restrictions- Masks are required for the visitation and service.) Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
