Obituary

Leonard E. Miller, 92, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Jack Gibler officiating. (Please bring and wear masks). Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Leonard Ervin Miller was born November 16, 1928 in rural Onawa, Iowa the son of Leonard Ervin and Celia A. (Reed) Miller. He grew up on the farm and attended country schools. He graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1945.

Leonard and Beulah Marie Reynolds were united in marriage on November 30, 1947 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Brad, Becky, Karen, and Cyndi.

Leonard was a lifelong farmer and always enjoyed working and being in the outdoors. He loved everything about farming, from planting, harvesting, and hauling grain with his “White Lightning” truck. He could be found many days driving the country side to visit his farms and checking on everything. Leonard and Beulah had a love that many would be jealous of, his tender care and compassion was evident as he cared for Beulah these last years. He loved visiting with his family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s sports and activities. The couple enjoyed country dancing and loved dancing to “J.K. Country” and “Weekend Country” bands.

He was a member of the National Farmers Organization since 1959. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include his loving wife of seventy-three years, Beulah Miller of Onawa, IA; children, Brad (Jerrilyn) Miller of Onawa, IA, Becky Anderson of Onawa, IA, Karen (Randy) Larson of Onawa, IA, and Cyndi (Paul) Moorhead of Moorhead, IA; grandchildren, Brent (Julie) Miller of Onawa, IA, Kara (Bruce) Johnson of Onawa, IA, Johnathan Moorhead of Moorhead, IA, and Kris (Gary) Pruismann of Stratford, IA; great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Allie Miller of Onawa, IA, Peyton Johnson of Onawa, IA, and Greg (Emily) Pruismann, Kellie Pruismann, and Katelin (Brady) Hartmann all of Webster City, IA; five great-great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, LaVern Schroeder of McCook Lake, SD; sisters-in-law, Nancy Schallau of Onawa, IA, Mary (Joe) Kramer of Onawa, IA, and Phyllis Reynolds of Onawa, IA; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Celia (Reed) Miller; parents-in-law, Edward and Helen (Neal) Reynolds; brother, Robert Miller; sister, Sharlene Schroeder; son-in-law, Ron “Smiley” Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Schallau, Bill Reynolds, Dick and his wife Naomi Reynolds, Steve Reynolds, Vivian and her husband Don Randall, and Jeanette and her husband Raymond Yates; nephews, Kelly Schroeder, Tim Kramer, Rick Reynolds, and Ned Reynolds.
