17 March 2021Jack Lewis Allen, 62, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar officiating. (Please bring and wear masks). Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Jack was born July 29, 1958 the son of Joseph “Bud” Thad and Mary Alice (Pauley) Allen. He grew up and attended school in Onawa, Iowa.
Jack married Sharon Elizabeth Whalen April 7, 1989 at St. John’s Methodist in Mapleton, Iowa. Jack worked as a Millwright for Monona County Iron and traveled all over for his job, living out of his suitcase.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, cars, motors, drag cars, Busch Light, playing cards, golfing, and westerns. He loved to work. His favorite saying was “It Will Be Alright”. Jack was caring and would give anyone the shirt right off his back. He loved to give advice even if it was right or wrong.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking and was a “Great Cook”. Jack loved to play the banjo and teach all of his grandchildren how to play.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Sharon Allen of Mapleton, Iowa; his children, Chad (Sharene Hawkins) Allen of Onawa, Iowa, Julie Becker of Albion, Nebraska, Laurie (Dan) Tierney of Farmersburg, Indiana, Tara Clemon of Soldier, Iowa, Krystal Clemon of Mapleton, Iowa, and Merrilee Craig of Upton, Wyoming; grandchildren, Brita, Jada, Colby, Lorissa, Tori, Blake, Payton, Keegan, Mason, Darby, Simon, Lexi, Austin, Alli, Terrance, Alaysa, Dillion, Alix, Mckenzie, Colton, and Carysn; great-grandchildren, Keerah, Kynlee, Kaylah, Cash, Thomas, Emma, and Connor; brothers and sisters, Bud W. (Ranae) Allen of Merrill, Iowa, Darrell Allen of Mapleton, Iowa, David (Tina) Allen of Danbury, Iowa, Mike McCall of Sioux City, Iowa, Wendy (Jerry) Hayden of Soldier, Iowa, and Shawn (Stephanie) Lee of Soldier, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Bud” Thad and Mary Alice Allen; brother, Miron Allen; aunt, Bea McCall; and sister-in-law, Patricia Allen.
