Nora Jane was born May 4, 1945 in Ute, Iowa, to Glen Leo Norby and Elaine Helen Amunson. Nora grew up in Soldier and was baptized and confirmed at Soldier Lutheran Church. She attended Soldier Community School through the 11th grade and later received her GED.

On August 25, 1962, Nora Jane and Donald Amos Parr were united in marriage in Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union three children were born – Kevin, Keith, and Kim.

Nora was a hard worker and had various jobs including IBP meat packer, cook, and later her own lumber yard business in Mapleton. Besides raising their family, and helping Jack with the horses and other animals, Nora enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, camping, and riding their horses.
