24 December 2020Connie Rae (Price) Johnson, age 71, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Mike Fillmore will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the governor’s proclamation, masks are mandatory and social distancing guidelines apply during all services.
The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Connie Rae Johnson was born on February 17, 1949, to Everett and Lavina (Larson) Price, in Onawa, Iowa. She grew up in Mapleton, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Maple Valley High School.
After high school, Connie relocated to Sioux City, Iowa, where she worked for an abstracting company before starting a clerical career with the Iowa DOT. While working for the DOT, Connie met the love of her life Gary D. Johnson and they were united in marriage on July 23, 1971, in the Church of Christ of Mapleton, Iowa.
The couple made their home in Moville, Iowa, and in 1979 relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa, where Connie worked as a secretary for MAU trucking and later in the accounting office for VT Industries. She retired in 2014 to become a caregiver for her husband Gary.
Connie was an accomplished seamstress. She loved quilting, crafts, family, and all animals especially dogs and cats.
Left to treasure her memory are her brother Mike (Jeanie Berg) Price of Mapleton, Iowa; and nephew Corey (Brandi Sexton) Price of Mapleton, Iowa; and extended family and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Lavina Price; husband Gary Johnson (2016), niece Caree Olson; and sister-in-law Kathee Price.
