Judith Anne Hitchman, 72, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Blencoe, Iowa passed peacefully on November 25, 2019, in Palm Garden Nursing Care in Clearwater, FL.

Judith, the oldest of Edwin and Eleanore (Wolfe) Hitchman’s five children, was born May 13, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated in 1965 from West Monona High School in Onawa, Iowa, and continued her education at Cottey College and Briar Cliff College. Judith married Richard L. Mock in 1967 as Richard served in Vietnam, and they had two children. They lived in California, Oklahoma and returned to Monona County, Iowa, where Richard had a law practice in Onawa, Iowa. After raising her family, Judith returned to the University of Nebraska Omaha to complete her B.S. and M.S.W. in Social Work.

Judith passionately dedicated her life to helping people through the healing and spiritual arts. She worked as a medical assistant in California and taught medical assistant vocational classes in Oklahoma. For over 25 years she provided uplifting support to many through life’s challenges and transitions as a therapist in various addiction units, the University of Miami neurology department and consulting for research teams.

She later returned to Blencoe, Iowa to care for her mother who had Alzheimer's. During this time, she worked at the Blencoe State Bank. Judith retired at 67 and moved to Dunedin, Florida to leisurely work at her favorite store to practice many of her talents.

Judith was a member of the Blencoe United Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday school teacher and sang and in the church choir. In 2016 she celebrated her 50th year as a member of P.E.O.

Judith is survived by her two children, son, Bryant R. (friend, Shelley Arnold) Mock of Gulf Shores, AL and daughter, Stacey (Chris) Miller of Onawa, IA; Grandchildren Jake and Josh Miller; 4 siblings, brother Charlie (Cindy) Hitchman of Blencoe,Iowa, brother James Hitchman (Barbara) of McFarland, WI, sister Rebecca (D.R.) Langren of Carefree, AZ and sister Lucinda (John) Sperry of Norwalk, IA. She also has 3 nieces & 5 nephews.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Eleanore Hitchman.
