Mrs. Fred Mansfield Is Laid To Rest

Mrs. Fred Mansfield was born January 29, 1859 at Honey Cree, Iowa and died October 16, 1931 age 72 years and 9 months. Her mother Jane was born in Holland, as also her father, Cornelius Slykhous. Mrs. Slykhous was married to Fred Mansfield at Topeka, Kansas December 16, 1884. To this union two children were born, John was born October 10, 1888 and died in infancy. George was born August 31, 1892.

Mrs. Mansfield leaves her husband, Fred Mansfield, a son George Mansfield of Sioux City, two sisters one of Bentonville, Arkansas and one of Meriden, Kansas two brothers, one of Lande, California and one grandchild, Mary Olive Mansfield of Sioux City.

Mr. and Mrs. Mansfield moved to Monona County in 1891 and have made their home in the vicinity of Whiting ever since living om a farm they have occupied for the last twenty-six years.

Rev. George Croker had charge of the funeral services at the Community Building. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery under the direction of the Whiting Cooperative Burial Association.
