PIONEER WHITING WOMAN PASSES
MRS. N. E. HUBBARD PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME IN WHITING JULY 31, 1931
She was 70 years and 3 months old at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Whiting M. E. church last Sunday.

Nancy Elizabeth Harrison daughter of Samuel A and Amelia Harrison was born near Tabor, Mills County, Iowa April 21, 1861 and passed away at her home in Whiting, July 31, 1931, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 10 days. She had been in failing health for over two years.

She was one of the early settlers of this community, having come with her parents to the old Harrison home west of Whiting in the late winter of 1875.

She was united in marriage to William O. Hubbard, March 17, 1878. In 1885 they moved to near Bancroft, Nebraska, and settled on government land. Here they resided for five years, then returned to Iowa and purchased the farm home where her son now resides. She has been a resident of Whiting for 27 years.

Mr. Hubbard passed away May 16, 1805.

Three children were born to this union, James, who died in 1881; Thomas E. who resides west of Whiting, and Mrs. Amelia McNeill of Onawa.

She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Annie Chandler of Whiting, and five brothers, Lewis B. Harrison of Booker, Texas; James O. and Samuel J. Harrison of Cedar Falls, Edward M Harrison of Whiting and George L. Harrison of Moorhead.

Five grandchildren also survive: Darrel Hubbard of Jefferson; Winifred and Dwight Hubbard of Whiting and Park and Jane McNeill of Onawa.

Mrs. Hubbard lived a quiet, unassuming life. She was a woman of refined character, a loving mother, and a good Christian, having early in life acknowledged her Savior. She was a consistent and untiring worker In the Methodist church as long as her health permitted.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Whiting, Sunday afternoon, August 2, and internment was made in the Harrison cemetery beside her husband. Relatives and friends from a distance who were in attendance were: J. O. Harrison of Cedar Falls, Mrs. J. W. Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Robbins, Mrs. Sam Thompson, Mr. Geo. Gallup and three children of Lyons Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Malvern, Iowa and Mr. Henry Hubbard of Glenwood, Iowa.
