BLENCOE MAN PASSES AWAY
ORT. G. JOHNSON WELL KNOWN IN THIS VICINITY DIES IN S. C. HOSPITAL SUN.

Has Taken Active Part in the Community Activities—Leaves a Widow and Son — Funeral Held Tuesday at Blencoe in Congregational Church—Burial at Thurman, Iowa.

Ort G. Johnson was born at McPaul, Iowa, on May 13, 1882, the son of Thomas and Alice Johnson. When 24 years of age he came to Blencoe, with his parents, living on a farm west of here.

On August 1, 1912 he was united in marriage to Myra Hayden. To this union one son, Corwin, was born.

Ten days ago, he became seriously ill and was taken to the St. Joseph hospital where everything that medical skill could do was rendered in his behalf. He took a sudden turn for the worse Friday and passed away Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Surviving besides his widow, and son are his aged mother, Mrs. T. M. Johnson, a sister Mrs. Bruce Conner, of Thurman, and a brother Harold of Blencoe.

Ort, as he was known by his hundreds of friends, was cut off over a score of years short of the allotted span.

On the field of sports, he was always a lover of fair play. He always believed in a square deal. He was charitable. He was kind to his fellowmen. He was always willing to help in times of trouble. No one asked him to do a favor within his power but what he quickly responded.

He was a great lover of his home. He enjoyed the companionship of his family. He was ever mindful of the welfare of his loved ones. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to his widow, his son, his mother, his brother and sister in their hour.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning from the Congregational church in charge of Rev. Jones and burial was made in the cemetery at Thurman.
