Obituary in Onawa paper dated August 24, 1933:

HARRY BUTCHER DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME.

Harry Butcher, well known business man, a partner in the firm of Oliver and Butcher, Barbers was found dead in his home by his wife Friday morning when she arose.

Heart failure was attributed as the cause of his death and Coroner Maurice Lawrenson and Dr. C. W. Young who were called stated that he had probably been dead four or five hours when discovered. News of his sudden death cast a gloom over the neighborhood and community and sorrow and sympathy for the bereaved family filled the hearts of all.

There was a very large attendance at the funeral services on Sunday afternoon; the home being crowded with friends and many standing outside with those anxious to pay tribute to a kindly man.

Harry Arthur Butcher was born at Minden, Franklin County, Nebraska on October 27, 1888, he died at his home in Onawa, Iowa, on August 18, 1933 at the age of 44 years, 9 months and 18 days.

He was the elder son of William and Ann Butcher. When two years of age he came with his parents from Minden, Nebr., to Onawa, Ia., and he has made his home here since. After becoming of age he engaged in farming until he entered the barber business twenty-three years ago, learning his trade with Hervy & Lindsay.

Almost continually since then he has owned and operated his own shop. On March 23, 1911, he was united in marriage to Mabel Brenneman. To this union were born Mrs. Ardith Oliver, Harry Glenn and Vivian Ferne Butcher.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Mrs. Mabel Butcher; the three children, one little grand-daughter, his father and mother and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Kinsley, Mrs. Myrtle McJunkin and Mrs. Mabel Schaffer all of Onawa, one brother Ray Butcher of Dows, Ia., besides numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon in charge on Reb. Thos. Batho. Attorney J. A. Prichard gave a brief but moving eulogy of the deceased whose friendliness and kindness is attested by all. Mrs. Ferris sang three songs very beautifully, "Will There be Any Stars in My Crown," "Love Lifted Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", and was accompanied by Mrs. Helen Cato on the piano. The funeral cortege was very large reaching from the house to the cemetery in Onawa where interment was made. The Brown funeral home had charge.
