William R. Butcher, 75.

William Raymond Butcher, youngest son of William and Ann Butcher, was born at Onawa on July 11, 1892 and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on July 27.

November 3, 1915 he was united in marriage to Alma Marie Biesterfeld. To this union four children were born, Helen, Fern, Walter and Willard.

While still a young man, he moved with his parents to a farm near Hancock, Minn, and while living there, became a member of the Lutheran Church. He farmed in the early years of married life and later was a construction worker for many years. William made his home in Oskaloosa, Iowa before moving to Onawa 16 months ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen Stohl of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Mrs. Carl (Fern) Hammer of Canton, SD; one son Walter Butcher of Montrose, Color., nine grand-children; three great-grand-children and three sisters., Mrs. Bessie Kinsley and Mrs. L. C. (Mable) Shaffer, both of Onawa and Mrs. Perry (Myrtle) McJunkin of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Willard, his parents and a brother.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 29 in the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with Pastor Harold E. Loehler officiating. Mrs. Orland Ferris sang "Just As I Am" and "Beyond the Sunset" with Mrs. Oliver Kelley as organist. Bearers were John Tyson, Ted Shaffer, Kenneth Shaffer, Donald Schumacher, Wayne Kinsley and Charles Richardson.

Interment was in the Onawa cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson funeral home.
