Byron S. Mesenbrink, 75, Moorhead, Iowa died Friday, June 26,2009 at his residence.

Byron was born July 29, 1933 at rural Denison, Iowa, the son of Marvin Eric and Hazel Ruth (Meadows) Mesenbrink. He and his family moved to the Moorhead area where he attended country school. He continued to live in the Moorhead area except for two years that he served in the United States Navy.

Byron and Janet Helen Coffman were united in marriage February 20, 1954 at Onawa, Iowa. They made their home and raised their son at Moorhead. At the age of 18, Byron started working as a farm laborer for Moorhead Stock Farms and continued working over 50 years for three generations. Janet died March 23, 1998 at Moorhead.

He was an avid hunter, enjoyed tinkering with equipment and most of all spending time and' visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Timothy Paul and Jackie Mesenbrink of Moorhead; five step grandchildren, Eric (Sheryl) Springer, Tina Hinrichsen, Jeff (Kim) Raymond, Lisa Pruett and Jordan Springer; 12 step great grandchildren; a step great-great granddaughter; a brother Dewayne (Phyllis) of Onawa; 3 sisters, Shirley (Ken) Ingram of Onawa, Bonnie Yorty of Fremont, NE and Marlene Mesenbrink of Aurora, CO and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Janet, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry; 4 nephews and a niece.

Funeral services were 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Rush Family Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with Evangelist John Lizer officiating. Music selections were "In The Stars", "When I Get Where I'm Going", "One More Day" and "I Still Can't Say Goodbye". Burial was in Ingemann Cemetery at Moorhead. Visitation was 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Casket bearers were Tim Mesenbrink, Alan dimming, Dwight Swenson, Jordan Springer, Mike Miller and J.P. Smith. Honorary bearers were Dave Archer, Dewayne Mesenbrink, Donald Lamb, John Moorhead, Wilbur Moore, Leland Lance, Merle Losh and Jeff Raymond.
