Rickie A. Lynn, 64, La Habra, California, died March 6, 2009 at La Habra.

Rickie was born September 9, 1944 at Onawa, Iowa, the son of James Gerald and B. Elaine (Ping) Lynn. He was raised in the Castana area, attended Areola Country School and graduated from Castana High School. He joined the United States Navy in 1964.

Rickie and Melody June Sullivan were united in marriage May 17, 1967 at Downey, California. Rickie worked in the state of Arizona and later was at Las Angeles, California. He had been a heavy machinery mechanic for 36 years. He enjoyed tinkering with his tools and liked gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Lynn of California; two daughters, Sussanna Davidson of California and Deanna Swanson of Texas; a son Rick "Harry" Lynn of California; three grandchildren, Charlie, Alie and Kacie Swanson; two brothers, Jimmie Lynn of Turin, IA and Craig and his wife, Jennifer of Ute, IA; two sisters and their husbands, Landra and John Zortman of Dakota Dunes, SD and Candy and Mike Lloyd of Sloan, IA; a special friend of 16 years, Linda Vigil; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Kate Lynn and Roy and Bonnie Ping; his parents; an infant sister, Kitty Lou; a sister-in-law, Norma Lynn and a nephew, Wade Lynn.

Funeral services were 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating. Music selections were organ solos, "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" provided by Ruth Jordan. Burial was in Kennebec Cemetery at Castana, Iowa with military honors conducted by American Legion Grimsley Thayer Post 502.

Casket bearers were Larry Lamb, Barry Erickson, Richard Merritt, Mike Lloyd, John Zortman and Dustin Thoreson.
