IDA GROVE, Iowa -- Marilyn G. Wallace, 80, of Ida Grove died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. Russ L. Burnett officiating. Inurnment will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Born Jan. 9, 1928, in Charter Oak, Iowa, Marilyn Genevieve Christiansen, was the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Brickman) Christiansen. She graduated from Charter Oak High School.

On June 23, 1946, she married James A. Wallace in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Ute, Iowa, area until 1955, when they moved to Ida Grove. She was employed with the J.C. Penney's store in Ida Grove for more than 20 years.

She was active for many years in the Order of the Eastern Star, Ida Grove Chapter and the Rainbow Girls. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Linda (David) Dalker of Eagle, Neb., Donna (Donald) Wood of Davenport, Iowa, Mary Sue (Dale) Benson of Cherokee, Iowa, and Patti (Thomas) Shea of Green Bay, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, James (Stacie) Applebee of Waverly, Neb., Aimee (Jay) Barritt of Cherokee, Janis Applebee of Waverly, Neb., Cari (Matt) Patterson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Crista Wood of Carol Stream, Ill., Jennifer (Terry) Powers of Lincoln, Neb., Daniel Wood of Sioux City, Adam (Jacey) Benson of Cherokee, Iowa, and Samuel, Emily, Hunter and Grace Shea, all of Green Bay, Wis.; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Abbie Applebee, Brett and Jennifer Barritt, Brittani Anderson, Dillon Kell Applebee, Nicholas Patterson and Ashlynn Powers; a brother, Ron Christiansen of Castana, Iowa; four sisters, Charlotte Kendall of Toledo, Iowa, June Samuelson of Milan, Ill., Edna Jensen of Castana, Iowa, and Carmen Lamb of Onawa, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Marfay Wallace of Omaha; and many nieces,
nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Wallace on Feb. 11, 1987; a son, James A. Wallace Jr. in 1955; a daughter, Jane A. (Wallace) Applebee in 1989; her parents; three brothers; and a sister.
