Lyle Jeff Sorensen, 79, Onawa, Iowa formerly of Bancroft, NE. passed away November 1, 2002 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa after a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at Rush family Chapel in Onawa with Pastor Kevin Lardy officiating. Burial will be in Bancroft Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fletcher Farley Post #191 American Legion.

Lyle was born April 3, 1923 in rural Bancroft, the son of Jeff and Anna (Elsasser) Sorensen. He attended District 78 rural school northwest of Bancroft.

He served in the United States Army during World War II August 20, 1943 until his honorable discharge January 10, 1946.

He married Clementine Mclntire August 28, 1957. She died May 27, 1962. He later married Inez Dominga June 17, 1977. To this union was born a daughter, Dominga Anna. He lived in the Bancroft area until moving to Onawa in 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Inez, a daughter and son-in-law, Dominga and Robert Delgado, two grandchildren, Paula and Sebastian Delgado, all of Onawa, three brothers, Jacob and Alvin of Bancroft, NE and Warren of Big Piney, WY, a sister Marie Jahnke of West Point, Nebraska, many nephews and nieces and his very special friend Patricia Brown of Onawa, Iowa.
