Merlyn Clemmensen, 95, Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Turin, Iowa, died May 15, 2004 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Memorial graveside services were, held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Belvidere Cemetery near Turin. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.

Merlyn was born September 20, 1908 at Moorhead, Iowa the daughter of Rasmus and Sadie (Conyers) Nelsen. She graduated from Moorhead High School.

She married Clarance C. Clemmensen June 12,1934 in Onawa, Iowa. The couple operated the Turin Telephone office for 10 years before farming east of Turin. In 1955, they moved to a farm near Ticonic. Clarance passed away July 1, 1985. Merlyn moved to Center Heights in Onawa before entering Elmwood Care Centre.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Turin. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a son and his wife Charles and Debrah Clemmensen of Phoenix, AZ; three granddaughters, Kellie Joan Hernandez of Surprise, AZ, Stacie Elizabeth Clemmensen of Phoenix, AZ, and Mallorie Leon Clemmensen of Surprise, AZ; and a great granddaughter, Karina Sue.

In addition to her husband, she was, preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cecil McManis.
