McNeill “Mac” Alred Sherman,92, of Onawa, Iowa died December 25, 2003 in Palm Desert, California.

Mac was born July 3, 1911 in Onawa, the son of Homer and Pearl (McNeill) Sherman.

He married Andree Jacob June 7,1986 in California.

He was a corn and soybean farmer and also owned Sherman's Rock Shop in Onawa.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, K of C Council No 6249, past president and lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 2270, Western Iowa Co-op, Farm Bureau and Onawa's Monterey, Indian Palms and Indio country clubs.

Survivors include his wife, Andree of Onawa; a son-in-law, Edmund Auffhammer of St George, UT; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren, all of Utah, four step-sons, Ronald Dixon and wife Patricia of Murrieta, CA, Alan (Judy) Koch of Newton, IA, Delaine Koch of Belvidere, IL, Dan (Mae) Koch of Lowland, CO, dear friends, Royce Beck's family and two cousins, Jane and Betty McNeill.

He was, preceded in death by his daughter Mary Jean Sherman Auffhammer and two former wives, Marie Berka Koch and Corrnie Jellison Dixon.

A memorial funeral mass was held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at St John's Catholic Church in Onawa with Rev. Harry D. McApIine officiating. Music selections were "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "Ave Maria", "I Am The Bread Of Life" and "Be Not Afraid". Mike Stodden was cantor and Celia Stevenson was guitarist. Burial was in Onawa Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Memorials may be directed to Loess Hills Historical Museum of Onawa or the Onawa Public Library.
