Jule Vaughn Goehring, 78, of Sioux City died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Jule Vaughn Goehring was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Delmont, S.D., the son of Ray and Amelia "Mollie" (Steinke) Goehring. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1946.

He married Louise Lambert on June 14, 1953, in Onawa. The couple later moved to Sioux City. He served 34 years in the 185th Air National Guard. During these years, he had several tours of duty in Korea, Italy, Germany, England, Panama and Washington D.C. He was a lieutenant colonel and chief of supply at the time of his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, the Air Force Association, American Legion George M. Nelson Post 662 of Sergeant Bluff and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife, Louise of Sioux City; a sister, Donna Rae Hyatt of Onawa; a sister-in-law, Barbara Lambert of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and two nieces.

Pallbearers will be Robert Millarke, Leo Stanislav, Marlin Noble, James Hey, Tom Lambert and Paul Rustwick. Honorary pallbearers will be the guard members who were in supply with him.
