SLOAN, Iowa -- Mary J. Miller, 80, of Sloan died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa, with the Rev. Donald J. Slaven officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Mary was born May 5, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of Philip and Bridgette Gleason. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated with the class of 1941 at Cathedral High School, all in Sioux City. She married Glenn S. Miller in 1945 in Sioux City.

She was a legal secretary for various law firms including, Brown and Nordenson Attorney at Law, Yaneff, Pirog and Gates and Edwards F. Samore, all of Sioux City. After moving to Metairie, La., in 1968, she worked for Lemle and Kelleher Law Office until her retirement in 2000. She moved to Sloan in 2003.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, James and Linda of Salix, Iowa, Joe and Lois of Sioux City and Michael and Rebecca of Seattle Wash.; a daughter, Mary Patricia Miller of Covington, La.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; a sister; and a great-grandchild.
