MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Earl A. Moore, 82, of Moorhead died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead. Burial will be in Jordan Township Cemetery in Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mr. Moore was born July 15, 1920, on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Perry A. and Rada M. (Treft) Moore. In 1939 he graduated from Castana High School in Castana, Iowa.

On Nov. 11, 1942 he married Iva L. Livengood at her parents' home in Castana. They made their home on the same farm near Moorhead where Earl farmed and raised and processed Crown Vetch. He worked at Swift Packing. He was also with the Monona County ASCS Office and retired from the Monona County Engineer's Office in 1985.

He was a member of Moorhead Christian Church, FFA as a youth and was a 4-H leader. He was also a member of the Monona County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Iva of Moorhead; seven children, Roy Moore and his wife, Shannon of Jacksonville, Fla., Hazel Torbensen and her husband, Norris of Cherokee, Iowa, Richard E. Moore of Moorhead, Keith Moore and his wife, Cheryl of Treynor, Iowa, Everett Moore and his wife, Beverly of Marshalltown, Iowa, Jack Moore and his wife, Cynthia of Liscomb, Iowa, and Lisa Petersen and her husband, Steve of Salix, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ella Mortenson of Denison, Iowa, Helen Allen of Onawa, Iowa, and Irma Ewing of Osceola, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy Moore in 1988; a brother, Richard Moore; and two sisters, Laura Gray and Nellie Jenkins.

Memorials may be given in Earl's name to the Moorhead Rescue Unit
