DANBURY, Iowa -- Margaret E. Nikolaisen, 93, of Danbury died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Margaret E. Nikolaisen was born Jan. 21, 1909, in Turin, Iowa, to Danish immigrant parents, Jens M. and Mary (Petersen) Clemmensen. Her childhood years were spent in Onawa, Iowa.

She married Bryan E. Nikolaisen from Moorhead, Iowa, on Feb. 22, 1928. They started their married life on a farm outside of Turin, where their son, Clem, was born. The family resided on several farms in the Soldier, Iowa, and Turin area. Their farm between Mapleton and Danbury was purchased in 1941, where they lived until Bryan's death on April 10, 1993. She then retired to Maple Crest Apartments in Mapleton, where she lived for nine years. In June 2002, she moved into Maple Heights Nursing Home.

The Nikolaisen's were members of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Clem and Patricia of Fontanelle, Iowa; a granddaughter, Lisa Jones of Temecula, Calif.; a grandson, Chris of Greenfield, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Nick.
