ONAWA, Iowa -- Oral "Tiny" Blackman, 86, of Onawa died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moorhead Christian Church in Moorhead, Iowa, with the Rev. John Eilers officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service of Onawa.

Tiny was born April 15, 1916, in Moorhead, the son of Clint and Ada (Turnow) Blackman. He was raised in the Moorhead area and graduated from Moorhead High School.

He was married to Mable Misfeldt on Sept. 25, 1935. She passed away April 26, 1997, in Sioux City.

The couple farmed in the Moorhead and Castana, Iowa areas. He also operated Blackie's Radiator in Mapleton, Iowa, and drove a school bus for the Mapleton School District.

He was a member of Moorhead Christian Church and an avid sports enthusiast. He played basketball in high school and later on the town team. He enjoyed bowling and loved fishing and spending time at his cabin on Lake Shetek in Minnesota.

Survivors include a son, Jim Blackman of Correctionville, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Dwight Koster of Currie, Minn.; two daughters-in-law, Alta Blackman of Mapleton and Sharon Moore of Smithland, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; a grandson, B.J.; and two brothers, Voyle and Bus.
