Onawa, Iowa – Benjamin Franklin McClure, 60, of Onawa died Friday, March 21, 1997, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick, officiating. The body was cremated and there will be no visitation. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McClure was born August 9, 1936 at Whiting, Iowa to Franklin and Eva (Mulvaney). He graduated from Onawa High School in 1956. He married Ila Deen Wilson December 27, 1968. He was employed as a crane operator for Fagen, Leighton and Borchman construction companies, retiring due to ill health.

He was a member of Local 571 B of the International of Operating Engineers Union, AFL-CIO.

Survivors include his wife of Onawa; three sons, Robert J. and his wife LeAnn of Turin, Iowa, Edward R. of Loveland, Colorado and Carey E. of Onawa; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia I. and Darrell Allen of Castana, Iowa, Gerri L. and Kurt Lyons of Sioux City; two step-sons, Lonnie Wilson of Underwood, Iowa, Harvey and his wife Lana Wilson of Turin; two step-daughters, Jamie Westby of Overland Park, Kansas, Claudyne and her husband Bob Howard of Sioux City, three grandsons, Michael, Mitchell and Matthew; six granddaughters, Bobbie Sherer, Shellie McClure, Corinna Rayevich, Stacy, Sandy and Nina Allen and Carolyn Lyons; five step-grandsons, John, Joseph, Jacob and Devin Wilson and Adam Howard; three step-granddaughters, Christina and Taylor Wilson and Elizabeth Howard and a great-grandson.
