SLOAN, Iowa -- Milo H. Hunter, 93, of Sloan died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Community of Christ Church in Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, with a Masonic service at 5:30 p.m., conducted by the Attica Lodge A.F. & A.M., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Milo was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Walthill, Neb., the son of William and Nellie (Swan) Hunter. He attended school in the Reliance, S.D., area.

He married Irma Linscott on Dec. 20, 1941, and the couple made their home in rural Sloan. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for three and one half years during World War II, assigned to a mechanic division. He was stationed in Panama, England, Germany, Belgium and France. Following his discharge, he returned to Sloan where he operated a trucking and cornshelling business and later farmed until his retirement in 1974.

He was a 50-year member of Attica Lodge A.F. & A.M. and member of the American Legion Smith Rhodes Post 295, both of Sloan. He also served on the Sloan school board.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Irma of Sloan; two sons, Gary and his wife, Sally of Sloan and Edwin of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; five grandchildren, Joel, Kam, Becky, Val and Kim Hunter; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pearl Dawson and Hazel Swanson; and four brothers, Forest, Virgil, Darwin and Dale.
