ONAWA, Iowa -- Joy Delle Chewning, 67, of Onawa died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. There will be no visitation.

Joy was born Oct. 16, 1937, to William and Thelma (Adams) Irish, in Salix, Iowa. She lived in Onawa for the past 20 years, where she enjoyed crafts and attending the Baptist church. She was happiest making gifts for others and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Mike and Michelle Christianson of Sergeant Bluff and Pat and Jeanne Christianson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Lynn Delaney of McCook Lake, S.D.; two sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Gary Beedle and Carol and Dale Bean, all of Onawa; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Gary Irish; a special friend, Harry Thorgesen of Sloan, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jody; an infant sister, Joan; and a special cousin, Patty Irish.

Pallbearers will be Mark Beedle, Jeff Bean, Dan Sortino, Curt Seward, Wally Morgan and Nick Holverson.
