Mrs. Bertha A. Shea, Onawa, Iowa passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital on August 3, 1976 following a long illness. At the time of her death she was 84 years of age.

She was born at Blencoe, Iowa on October 8,1893, the daughter of the late Fred and Millie Warren Anderson. Following her graduation from the Onawa High School in 1911, she taught school in River Sioux and Lake City, Iowa until her marriage to Ernest Shea. The couple was married on June 24, 1919 at Blencoe, and she and her husband operated general stores in Moorhead and Castana until moving to Omaha. She was employed by the federal government until she retired in 1963.

Bertha was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational at Blencoe having been baptized there at an early age. She was a charter member of the Royal Neighbors of America at Moorhead and a member of the Thursday Club of Castana. For several years she had made her home in Onawa, the last four years at the Elmwood Nursing Home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar (Hope) Johnson and grandson, James of Onawa, and her three sisters, Mrs. Stacey (Beulah) Vance, of Peru, Nebraska, Mrs. Frank (Eva) West of Mapleton, Iowa and Mrs. O F (Hazel) Linscott of Sloan, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter and three brothers.

The funeral service was held at 1:30 p. m. Saturday, August 5th at the Pearson Funeral Chapel. Rev. William Bessmer officiated, and Mrs. Bessmer was the organist.

Casket bearers were Leo Marley, Ralph Lindley, Ford Bigelow, Robert Comfort, Hugh Gray and Vernon Rock. Interment was the Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa.
