Jennie L. Shea, a longtime resident of the Blencoe community, died at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on Wednesday, December 19, 1973. She had reached the age of 93 years.

Mrs. Shea was born October 7, 1880, a daughter of Everett and Mary Whiteman at Plattville, Illinois. She was the widow of Edward Shea, pioneer grocer and general store operator in Blencoe as well as Onawa and Moorhead. Mrs. Shea taught school for several years in the Blencoe community. She was united in marriage to Edward A. Shea on June 1, 1939, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1960.

Mrs. Shea was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, the Ladies Aid, the Blencoe Garden Club, and the Women's Auxiliary of the Stevens-Kelley Post No 665, American Legion. She had also formerly served as Recorder for Royal Neighbors of America for many years.

Mrs. Shea is survived by a number of nieces and nephews that include Mrs. Ralph (Bernadine) Lynn of Fresno, California; Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Danforth of Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Floyd (Frances) Huff of Council Bluffs, la.; Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Rowe of Whiting, la. And Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Clark of Phoenix, Arizona. Nephews are Gene Kelley, Onawa, Bill Kelley, Blencoe and Rex Kelley of Whiting and there are also other nieces and nephews and relatives.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 1973 at the United Church of Christ in Blencoe, Iowa, with Rev. Norman McCallum officiating. Mrs. Lois Rock and Mrs. Fred Gibson sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me " and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Mrs. Carl Linden.

Bearers were Larry Huff, Leslie Huff, Jim Kelley, John Kelley, Mike Kelley, Randy Kelley, and Jerry Johnson.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home of Whiting.
