Mrs. Julia Flynn Died February 4

On Friday afternoon, February 4th, death unexpectedly brought to a close the life of Mrs., Julia Flynn. Two weeks ago, she suffered a slight stroke which made her bedfast. She seemed to be improving as rapidly as could be expected when on Friday afternoon she received a second stroke and she peacefully sank to her last rest in the presence of her immediate family and Father Kane.

Solemn Requiem mass was celebrated Monday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ute with Rev. J.A. Kane, Celebrant; Rev. J.P. McGuire, Deacon; Rev. A. Anthoefer, Sub-deacon and Rev. A.H. Ocken, Master of Ceremonies. The pallbearers were; Tom Clinton, Chas. Staley, John Hartigan, Will Shanahan, Davis Kee and Dan Hartigan, Sr.

Julia Boylen was born in Galena, Illinois August 27, 1863 and died February 4, 1938. With her parents she came to Adam County, Iowa, where she resided until she married Michael Flynn and moved with him to his farm in Crawford County, Iowa. Four years later they moved to their farm at Soldier where she spent most of her life. Eleven years ago, the retired to their home in Ute where she died. Her husband and four sons preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her departure five daughter, Ella, Mrs. Joe Dergans, Ute, May, Mrs. J.P. Houston of Dunlap, Catherine, Mrs. Thomas Garvin of Sioux City, Miss Frances Flynn of South Bend, Indiana and Margaret, Mrs. W.E. Flavin of Bellows Falls, Vermont. Also, two brothers, Frank Boylen of Corning, Iowa, and L.P. Boylen of Des Moines, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were: Mrs. Leonard Mann of Omaha, Nebraska, Walter Boylen of Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Boylen of Des Moines.
